Movie: the Conjuring

Last night I went to see The Conjuring. This paranormal thriller is based on a true story, but I think they might have exaggerated some things to spice the whole thing up a bit.

The story is about the Perrons, a family of seven. They've just moved from the city to a country farm house near a lake (pretty cliché) and then the weird stuff starts happening. Every day things get worse, until they don't know what to do anymore. Eventually they call in the help of Ed and Lorraine Warren, 2 famous ghost busters from the 1960's. Lorraine is a clairvoyant and a medium, her husband Ed is a self-declared demonologist. They discover that the whole place has been cursed by a witch in the 19th century.

This is the actual Perron family. They're not made up, they actually exist. One of the daughters wrote a book about her experiences in the haunted house.
Ed and Lorraine Warren are still known as the first paranormal investigators. Ed Warren died in 2006, Lorraine is still investigating cases.
I thought it was a pretty good movie. The suspense was killing me at some points, so if you don't like ghost stories, don't watch this. It got a little more scary because of the 'based on a true story'-claim, but I just tried not to think about that.

I'm always a little sceptical with these kind of movies, because the story tends to get boring and I also get annoyed by the fact that no one ever tries to run or get help while they still can. Here the story wasn't like that.

In short: I'd really recommend this movie to all of you. I think it's perfect for a scary movie night. Let's admit it, girly movies get boring after a while. So let's just put those love stories with handsome actors aside every once in a while and watch a thriller instead. The Conjuring for example.
